The Library of Education Department of the School of Philosophy and Pedagogy has a collection of approximately 21.000 volumes, of which about 18.000 are books (in Greek, English, German and French), while the rest are journals (Greek and foreign), encyclopedias, dictionaries, dissertations, diplomatic papers, educational legislation, and daily press articles (1976-1991). 

The material of the collection is classified into the following thematic sections: History of Pedagogy, History of Education, General and Special Pedagogy, General and Special Teaching, Classroom and School Sociology, Adult Education, Education of Teachers, Pedagogical Psychology, Technology of Education and Special Education. 

The Library holds the following closed collections that include books in the field of Pedagogy from the following research units: 

  • Centre for the Research of School Books and Intercultural Education
  • Historical Archive of Modern Greek Education
  • Centre for Research and Support for Schools in Management and Training
