The Library of Byzantine and Medieval History mainly serves the Department of Ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Medieval History of the School of History and Archaeology. The Library organizes and manages the orders of textbooks used in the School of History and Archaeology. 

In the Library's space, undergraduate and postgraduate students attend postgraduate seminars and formally present their theses and doctoral dissertations in Byzantine and Medieval History.  
 

History: 

Initially, the Library of Byzantine and Medieval History functioned as part of the Library of History, founded by the Presidential Decree of 16th/5/1927 (Government Gazette 98. p. Α. 26.5.1927). Later, it functioned as part of the unified Library for Medieval Greek Literature and Byzantine History of the AUTh Faculty of Philosophy. In 1985 it became autonomous.
