Biographical information:
Ioannis Megas was born in 1945 in Thessaloniki, where he grew up and studied civil engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Faculty of Engineering. He worked as an engineer in England, Nigeria, and Athens. In 2000, he returned to Thessaloniki. For the past 30 years, he has been collecting materials on the history of Thessaloniki for the period 1850-1950, consisting of everything based on paper, namely postcards, photographs, engravings, books, magazines, maps, shares, brochures, theater and cinema programs, letterheads, etc. He has written eleven books on subjects that are always related to the history of Thessaloniki, using materials from his collection for the illustrations.
