ΒΥΖΑΝΤΙΝΑ SΥΜΜΕΙΚΤΑ is the continuation of the journal of the Institute of Byzantine Research (ΙΒR) - Hellenic National Research Foundation (HNRF),which appeared as SYMMEIKTA in 1966 (17 volumes edited till 2005). The focus of ΣΥΜΜΕΙΚΤΑ laid mostly in Byzantine history, literature and archival research. In 2007 IBR reviewed the journal’s mission:continuing as BYZANTINA SYMMEIKTA, it is the primary publication medium for research carried out at the Section of Byzantine Research of the unified (since 2012) Institute of Historical Research), either by its own research staff or by external collaborators. Publications of the international scholarly community engaged in Byzantine Studies are also always welcome.

The journal is hosted in the National Documentation Centre's ePublishing Platform.
